In June 2020 the Design and Building Practitioners (DBP) Act came into force, The DBP Act and Regulations are key parts of the NSW Government’s moves to respond to the Shergold Weir recommendations and are aimed at overhauling the building and construction industry to restore public confidence and ensure quality and safety outcomes. The Act imposes multiple new obligations on design practitioners and builders throughout the life of the building to ensure better compliance with the Building Code of Australia underpinned by higher quality design documentation.
Under the Act anyone undertaking work on Class 2 (apartments/dual occupancy), Class 3 (boarding houses) or Class 9c (residential aged care) is required to submit a record of experience and register as a design and or building practioner. Jo is registered in the unrestricted architectural class Design Practitioner - Architectural.
