HERITAGE CONSERVATION - SYDNEY

Throughout Sydney there are many areas nominated as a Heritage Conservation Areas (HCA). We have worked with many clients to achieve fabulous outcomes for modern living. While owning a house in a HCA does set additional design criteria we have a proven track record of innovative modern design being approved through the council planning pathway.

THE BALCONY

Situated on a prominent corner of the Gowrie Estate Heritage Conservation Area we worked closely with Council to achieve a favourable outcome for the owners and surrounding area. The modern extension uses materials which are present in the existing house and opens a dialogue to the street which the original corner shop would have originally contributed to.

The blue skylight is a direct translation of council’s planning requirements for roofs be traditional a form, by placing large skylights on the southern side of this pop-up roof the dining and living spaces are washed with light throughout the year.
